Douglas Allen Grant, 36, passed away on March 6, 2025, in Portland, Maine. His sudden passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Doug was born on September 5, 1988, in Portland, Maine. He was a man of deep connections, known for his sharp sense of humor that kept everyone on their toes and his unwavering love for his family and friends. His warmth and loyalty were evident in every relationship he nurtured. Doug was deeply embraced by the sobriety community, where he found strength and purpose. Through their support and his own determination, he achieved over four years of sobriety—an accomplishment that stood as a testament to his resilience and dedication to personal growth. He is survived by his beloved daughter Judith and her mother and siblings of Portland; his father Scott and stepmother Susan of Wells; his grandmother Germaine of Westbrook; his brothers Brendan and partner Alex of Atlanta, Georgia, Sean of Saco, and Kyle of Portland; and his sister Chelsea with her partner Paul and their children of Lewiston. Doug also leaves behind many cherished aunts and uncles: godparents Beth and Jerry Schinella, Cynthia and Terry Grindle, Sharon Seger, Jenny and Ed Hagan, and Alice Sorto. He was predeceased by his mother Judith Grant; his paternal grandfather Martin Grant Sr.; his paternal uncle Martin Grant Jr.; and his maternal grandparents Judith and Anthony Pagliaro. Doug is now reunited with them, especially in the warm embrace of his mother after the tragic accident that took his life. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Westbrook Chapel of Dolby, Blais & Segee, 35 Church St., Westbrook. A funeral Mass will follow on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. Hyacinth’s Church, 268 Brown St., Westbrook, Maine. Doug’s memory will live on in the laughter he shared and the love he gave so freely. May those who knew him find comfort in the joy he brought into their lives.
