Douglas Goodwin, 80, of Vinalhaven , passed away Thursday, March 12, 2015 at Avita in Westbrook. He was born in Lynn, MA, the son of George and Frances (Messemer) Goodwin.  He graduated from Northeastern University and worked as a Civil Engineer for many years before retiring. Douglas moved to Maine in 1992.  He loved Maine, especially the Island of Vinalhaven. He was predeceased by his wife Lilabeth, a brother George, and a sister Katherine.  He is survived by his brother Wayne of PA; sons Doug and his wife Kara Goodwin of Hudson, MA, David and wife Wanda Goodwin of Gray, and Donald Goodwin of Portland; daughters Judy and husband Dennis Harrison of Northford, CT, and Susan and husband Peter Martina of Marshfield, MA; and his grandchildren Laura, Colleen, Peter "PJ", Tyler, Ryan, and Michael. Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 PM Sunday at Blais & Hay Funeral Home, 35 Church St., Westbrook, followed by a funeral service at 4 PM.  Interment will be in the spring in Cummings Cemetery on Vinalhaven.  On line condolences may be expressed at blaisandhayfuneralhome.com.
