WESTBROOK—Douglas Wayne Carr Sr., 61, passed away unexpectedly at his home on January 27, 2020. He was born June 12, 1958, a son of Andrew and Alice Carr. Doug graduated from Portland High School in the class of 1976. In his younger years, Doug was employed at Rich's and Jordan Meats, later in life he worked at Mercy Hospital and UNE as a custodian. On July 18,1987, he married Rosemary Carr and together they had a son, DJ. Doug loved sports, whether he was participating or cheering on his favorite teams, such as the Red Sox, Celtics, Bruins, and his beloved Miami Dolphins. Doug played softball for years, participating on a variety of leagues. He was a karaoke king and could often be heard singing Frank Sinatra. Doug was a happy go lucky guy who enjoyed camping and spending time with his family. He is survived by his son, Douglas "DJ" Carr Jr. and his fiancé Courtney VanDeventer; nieces, Gina Puiia, Heather Whittaker, Christina LaRose, and Amber Gedaro, and his nephew Anthony Harkins; and a sister in law Patty Harkins; and his life long best friend, Lenny Weiss, along with countless other friends. He was predeceased by both of his parents, and his wife, Rosemary. The family is planning a celebration of life to be held at a later date.
