Obituary

Dorothy "Dot" Fern Phinney, 95' passed away peacefully November 12, at Southern Maine Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born in Casco, on November 22,1921, one of 13 children born to William and Mary Maines. She attended Casco schools.   In her early years, Dot was an accomplished seamstress making draperies and beautiful wedding dresses. She made wedding cakes as well.  She loved her years at Sebago Lake with her husband Warren, children Judy, Carolyn, and Ray, siblings and friends, camping, enjoying the lake, camp fires, playing cards, and Bingo. Many wonderful memories. She loved lobster and was known for her fabulous famous lobster newburg.   Later, after retiring from Data General, she enjoyed playing Bingo with her girls, Judy and Carolyn , sisters, and nieces. She co-ordinated traveling bus tours. She and Thelma co-hosted the bus tours and entertained her new friends while traveling to Niagara Falls and many other places. She especially enjoyed traveling to Hawaii, Georgia, Florida, and other New England areas.   Dot loved going to yard sales and picking strawberries and blue berries with "lovey", granddaughter, Charlene. Ray always made sure her car was in running order for her escapades and adventures. She was especially proud of all of her grandchildren; Joey, Jim, John, Jeff Fournier, Charlene-Raye Phinney Joyner, and their spouses for all their accomplishments.   While at Biddeford Estates, she enjoyed taking bus tours with the staff and other seniors. She loved her visits from all of her family and friends. Her face would especially light up and smile seeing her grand and great grandchildren. Her beautiful bright blue eyes just twinkled. She enjoyed the fruit and flowers from Barry and Joann.   She is predeceased by all of her siblings, husband Warren, son in laws Joseph Fournier and Tony Moore, and daughter, Judith, "Judy" Fournier. She is survived by daughter, Carolyn Moore of Buxton, son, Raymond and daughter in law Anne-Marie Phinney of Waxhaw,Nc., 6 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson and many nieces and nephews.   The family wants to extend a heartfelt thank you to Amy Fournier for her loving care and attention, Biddeford Estates and staff, and Southern Maine Hospital for the care of our Mother.
