Obituary

Dorothy I. Hayes, 87 Scarborough – Dorothy I. Hayes, 87, of Old Orchard Beach passed away surrounded by her family at the Gosnell Memorial House on September 21, 2016.  Dorothy was born in Portland on October 19, 1928, the 10th of 13 children of the late Louis and Pamela (Nadeau) Moulton. She grew up on Warren Ave and attended Cathedral schools in Portland. Dorothy worked at the American Can Co. where she met her husband James W. Hayes and was married on June 10th 1950, they had five children. She was a member of the St. Pius X Church and enjoyed making her famous baked beans, potato salad, and date crumble. She also enjoyed playing bingo and making puzzles. Family was a big part of her life and enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, other family members, and most recently developed a bond with her daughters' cats. They enjoyed traveling and vacationing in New England through the years. Dorothy was predeceased by her son Michael and daughter Anne; three brothers, Amile, Joseph, and Frank Moulton; three sisters, Rose Viscone, Caroline Rist, and Catherine Fuessell. Dorothy is survived by her husband James Hayes; two sons, Gregory and his wife Patti of Hartsville South Carolina; Timothy and his wife Dulcie of Scarborough; daughter, Natalie Baltos and her husband Jon of Old Orchard; brother, Phillip Moulton of Limington; five sisters, Mary Landry of South Portland; Gladys DiFazio of Westbrook; Lorraine Wing of Portland; Marjorie Lenois and Arlene Stence of Connecticut. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. Special thanks go out to the caring staff of Gosnell Memorial House. Visiting hours will be from 6-8pm Monday September 26th at Blais & Hay Funeral Home 35 Church St Westbrook, ME. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am Tuesday, Sept. 27th.
