WINDHAM - Dorothy Z. Manoogian, 98, of Windham, passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2016, surrounded by family. Dorothy was born in Lawrence, MA on July 7, 1917, to parents Mardiros and Rose Kentigian. She graduated from Lawrence High School in 1935, and was further educated at McIntosh Business School in Lawrence, MA. In 1951, Dot and husband, Bill Lawrence, relocated to Maine, where they settled together until his death in 1981. Dot worked at Kiekhaefer Container Co. for seven years, until making a transition to S.D Warren, where she worked as an Assistant to the Benefits Manager. In 1982, Dot retired from the S.D. Warren Co. after 15 years of dedicated service. In 1989, Dot met her second husband, Haig Manoogian. The two were happily married on February 11, 1990 and remained so until his death on April 2, 2007. Dot enjoyed playing Bingo, and traveling to Foxwoods and Las Vegas. She loved spending time with her family and her beloved dog "Precious." She valued the Armenian community, and enjoyed attending social events; from being in Armenian plays as a young woman to attending Armenian dances or picnics with her family. Dot was predeceased by her first husband, William "Bill" Lawrence of Windham, ME; second husband, Haig Manoogian of Windham ME; parents, Mardiros and Rose Kentigian of Lawrence, MA; her sister Elsie Brazilian of Florida; her brother Martin Kentigian of Phoenix, AZ; and her nephew Martin P. Kentigian of Windham, ME. Survived by her sister in-law Patricia Kentigian of Phoenix, AZ; Nephews, Gary Kentigian and wife Beth of Hollis, ME, Danny Kentigian of Phoenix, AZ, and David Kentigian and wife Ruth of Phoenix, AZ; Grand-nieces, Kristina Kentigian and husband Quang Ho of Westbrook, ME, Kelly Kentigian of Portland, ME, Kourtney Kentigian of Portland, ME, and Kailin Kentigian of Phoenix, AZ; Grand-Nephew, Adam Black of Hollis, ME; and a her very dear and long-term friend, Donna Bonin of Haverhill, MA. At her request, there will be a private burial with no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Gorham House, 50 New Portland Road, Gorham, Maine 04038.
