Obituary

Dorothy E. Parady, 80, of Wards Hill Rd., Gorham, passed away peacefully on Christmas Eve, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Portland on December 17, 1935, the daughter of George and Emily (Small) Bridges. She was raised in Westbrook, graduating from Westbrook High School. Early on Dorothy worked tirelessly at a variety of jobs to provide for her family. After many years of sacrifice she settled into work that allowed time for her to also bring her God given talents into many lives beyond her family and friends. Dorothy's talents came in forms of color, design, architecture, planning and artisanry. She created with her hands, eyes, and mind, all the richest beauty that was hers alone, yet gave vision to us things beyond this world. From floral arrangement to wedding planning, design, cake decoration, or her ability with color, made obvious that she saw the world, because of her devotion to God, through his eyes. Dorothy's attention to detail, drive and motivation to make things special and unique for each life that she touched, was rooted in selfless love for them all. Through all, Dorothy's love for her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her true passion. Her selfless dedication and devotion to family was second to none, often overflowing to many friends. The values she instilled to others were exemplary. Dorothy was predeceased by a brother George Berry. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Richard Parady of Gorham; her children Emily Flowers and Richard Parady of Gorham, Monica Atkinson and Scott Parady of Windham, her sisters, Lorraine Marion and Joan Marie Butterfield of Portland, Donna Green of Gorham, and Shirley Young of Clarksville, AK; grandchildren Dustin and Nicklaus Flowers, Ashley Stiles, Daniel and Samuel Atkinson, Autumn, Elijah, and Tianna Parady; and great grandchildren Royce and Pyper Stiles. Visiting hours will be from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday, Dec. 30, at Blais & Hay Funeral Home, 35 Church St., Westbrook. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM Thursday at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Gorham. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Gorham.
