Windham - Doris J. (Dottie) Freeman, 78, of Windham earned her wings on October 15, 2022. During a short battle with cancer, she decided to be joyful about having had a great life rather than be sad about having it end. Now she has been joyfully reunited with her husband in heaven. She was born on February 28, 1944 in Harrison, Maine to Lester Snow Sr. and Agnes Grover. Dottie grew up in Porter and Gorham, Maine. In 1960 she married the love of her life, Carl K. Freeman Sr. They were married for 49 years. Carl passed away in July 2010, just one month shy of their 50th Wedding Anniversary. Dottie worked at Clarostat Mfg. in Gorham, ME for many years. She also cared for many foster children throughout the years. Krissy, Nicole and Penny, you all held a special place in her heart. In addition to her parents, Dottie was predeceased by her husband, Carl K. Freeman Sr, sisters, Geraldine Guilbault, Deedee Morse, Phyllis Poland and her brother, Lester Snow Jr. She is survived by her 6 children, 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren: Son, Rick Freeman and his wife Cheryl of Westbrook, son, Carl Freeman Jr. of Casco, son, Mike Freeman of Westbrook, daughter, Cathy Clements and her husband Mark of Windham, son, Bob Freeman and his wife Robin of Westbrook, daughter, Brenda Bean and her husband Ken of Westbrook. 9 grandchildren, Jamie, Meaghan, Kevin, Ashlee, Chelsea, Brittany, Adam, Zackery & Alex. Great grandchildren, Mya, Trevor, Aiden, Natalie, Reaghan & Adriana. As well as her two sisters, Becky Morse of Buxton & Susan Graffam of Baldwin, and brother, Scott Snow of Parsonsfield. Dottie was one of a kind and had a heart of gold. Always so loving and caring for everyone around her. She loved all her friends at Little Falls Landing in South Windham where she lived for the past 16 years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Westbrook Unit 197 where she held the seat of Chaplain. She also enjoyed singing karaoke. The highlight of her week was going to the American Legion on Sundays where she would go and sing with all her friends. Dottie may not have had an official College Degree, but she had a Masters Degree in "Common Sense". The family would like to thank those that helped care for her over this past month. Everyone was so willing to help and support her and the family. This was just an example of the amazing woman she was. Visiting hours will be Saturday, October 22, 10-12 p.m. with a Service following at 12:00 p.m. at Dolby, Blais & Segee Funeral Home, 434 River Road, Windham, ME. A Celebration of her life will follow after the service at The American Legion on Rte 25, Conant Street in Westbrook.
