STANDISH—Donna R. Peakall, 84, passed away surrounded by her loving family on May 26, 2018. She was born March 21, 1934, a daughter of Everett and Helen (Sargent) Thorne. Donna attended schools locally, graduating from Standish High School in the class of 1951. A couple of years after graduation, she married Charles N. Watters. Together, they made their home in Massachusetts and after 8 years of marriage and while expecting their third child, Charles passed away. Donna returned to Maine where she lived next to her parents and worked hard to provide for her children. She later met and married Elden Peakall and together had a double wedding with her daughter Anne at the family home. She spent her working years holding various jobs in catering, served on Standish Rescue as an EMT, and spent 35 years as a cook and baker for SAD#6, working until age 75! Donna was a talented baker who won State awards for her delicious creations; her dinner rolls, chocolate chip cookies, and cinnamon rolls were her notable, trademark treats. She was also a talented craftswoman who enjoyed quilting and painting. Donna was a member of the Pythian Sisters, and the Eastern Star. Some of Donna's favorite pastimes include camping at Hastings Campground, playing scrabble, doing puzzles with her neighbor Tom, and decorating many wedding cakes. Donna was a loving mother and grandmother who especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. An appreciation for nature, she traveled to Alaska twice; once being a trip of a lifetime with her grandson, Scott. She is survived by her children, William Watters of Standish, Timothy Watters of Standish, Anne McKenna and her husband Bob of Standish; step children, Jay Peakall and his wife Lisa of Limington, and Sharon Black of Limington; siblings, James Thorne and his wife Linda of Standish, Carol Varney of Hartland, VT, and Lorraine Sturgis and her husband David of Standish; an aunt, Mildred Hawkes of Westbrook; 15 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by both of her husbands, Charles Watters and Elden Peakall; and step children, Joan McIntire and Ellen Bernier. The family would also like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to Compassus Hospice. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 2pm at the Sebago Lake Congregational Church, 410 Northeast Road, Standish, ME 04084. Burial will follow at Sebago Lake Village Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Donna's name may be made to the Standish Rescue, 175 Northeast Road, Standish, ME 04084 or Maine State Society for the Protection of Animals (MSSPA), P.O.
