Obituary

Donald Charles Spearin Sr, 81 longtime Gorham resident, passed away on October 23, 2024 due to complications from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on October 3, 2024. Born on May 5, 1943 in Calais Maine as the youngest of 3 children of the late Clarence and Irene Spearin. Don was predeceased by his siblings Francis Heath and Hazen Spearin. Married to Marsha on November 23,1968 the two built a life in Gorham and enjoyed snowmobiling, boating and the spending time at their camp on Saddleback Mountain Rd. in Rangeley. Don was heartbroken when Marsha passed in 2016 and the two of them are together again at last. A 1962 graduate of Gorham High School, Don's career choices all revolved around automobiles and horsepower. Don was a truck driver for Hartt Transportation and Casco Bay Foods and a mechanic at Chet's Auto sales and Village Center Auto care before he built his own shop and became self employed. Don was very successful and was known as a fair and honest mechanic. Working every single day until his retirement. An avid fan of Ford in his early years, Don's loyalty changed and he became a lover of all things Mopar. He was well known in the area for his Mopar collection and if you needed something chances are he had it. From drag cars, mud trucks and pulling tractors if it was carbureted he could make speed. Don is survived by his children Renee (Jeffrey) Martin of Hamburg, NY and Donald Charles Spearin Jr of Gorham. His Grandchildren Samantha ( Dennis) Gwinn, Jacob Robertson, Mathew Spearin (Autumn) and Kevin Spearin. Great Grandchildren, Adalyn Gwinn, Oliviana and Rowan Spearin and another one on the way. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. As per his wishes, there will be no formal services. A celebration of life will be held on Monday October 28, 2024 from 4-8 pm at one of his old stomping grounds, Chaps Saloon 1301 Long Plains Rd Buxton. Lite fare will be served and a cash bar will be available. All are welcome and encouraged to have a "cold one" in Don's memory. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hearts and Horses 63 Justin Merrill Rd Buxton Maine 04093
