Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dmitriy Basistyy (Dima), who left this world on July 2nd 2025 at the age of 47. He was a kind, generous, and gentle soul whose quiet strength and loving nature left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him. Dima had a heart bigger than words could express. Though life brought its share of challenges, including the loss of our beloved mother, his faith in Jesus carried him through. He knew the name of Jesus, and found peace in the promise of eternal life. There's comfort in knowing that he is now reunited with our mom in Heaven, where there is no more pain — only joy, and love. He found joy in life's simple pleasures — fishing by the water, laughing with his nieces, and never missing a chance to gather around the table for an all-you-can-eat buffet of crab legs and sushi. Sundays were our tradition, a standing date that turned into cherished memories filled with good food and even better company. When he wasn't by the water or at the buffet, you could find him hanging around Meineke Car Care, where he hung out with his brothers and friends. He loved spending time with the guys there, making them laugh, running errands, grabbing car parts, and, of course, sticking around when lunch was being ordered. It wasn't about the work — it was about the company, the conversation, and being part of something. That's who Dima was: someone who showed up, made people feel good, and brought warmth and humor into the room. He lived a life defined not by titles or accolades, but by kindness, loyalty, and unconditional love. Dima will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who were lucky enough to cross paths with him. May his soul find peace in the arms of Jesus, and may we carry his memory in our hearts always. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday July 10, 2025 at 10:00 am at the Dolby, Blais & Segee Westbrook Chapel at 35 Church St. with a burial to follow at 11:00 am at Woodlawn Cemetery in Westbrook.
