Obituary

WINDHAM—Dawn E. Finnerty, 85, passed away on June 22, 2018 at the Gorham House. She was born February 10, 1933, a daughter of Clifford Jackson and Alice (Kelley) Jackson, later known as Alice DeCosta. She grew up in Windham, attending local schools, and went on to graduate from Pierre's School of Beauty. Through her younger years, Dawn was employed at various restaurants and company's such as Top of the Hill Restaurant, Forrest City Diner, Burrow's Shoe Factory, Foster Manufacturing, Portland Copper Welding and Scarborough Downs, Dawn's real talent and passion was being a hairdresser. On January 25, 1975, Dawn married Richard Finnerty at their newly owned home in Westbrook. In 1976, they converted part of the home into a hair salon, naming it Conant Street Beauty Shop where she had many faithful customers throughout the years. She was a member of the Lady Samaritans of Portland, the Cross Roads Garden Club, and the Helping Hands Club of Windham. Dawn enjoyed caring for her home and property (she loved yard work), long rides in the car with her husband, and attending the county fairs. She will be remembered for her good natured spirit and friendly personality. She is survived by her loving husband and best friend, Richard Finnerty of Windham; and niece Ann LeGage and her husband, Michael of Scarborough, and their son, Michael LeGage Jr. She was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Robert Jackson. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at 10am at Woodlawn Cemetery in Westbrook.
