Obituary

OTISFIELD- David Gray Taylor passed away on January 18, 2017, with his family by his side. He was born March 11,1936, in Silver Lake, New Hampshire, son of the late Chester Taylor and Edwina Rudd. David graduated from Deering High School, Class of 1954. He served our country for 8 years as a Reservist in the United States Navy. Dave married his high school sweetheart Mary Curran in 1955. He taught his family incredible work ethic through his 45-year career at H.P. Hood; he was a member of the Hood's Quarter Century Club. Everyone who knew him will remember him as a very special man who was always willing to help others, especially with his ability to fix anything. Dave was a man of few words, but when he spoke, we listened to his meaningful lessons and witty jokes. He enjoyed woodworking, making many cherished projects for his family. His love for nature and the outdoors was especially shown through his hobbies and his beautiful and peaceful home on his lake. A very important man to our family, he taught us life lessons that will be remembered always. Dave built his greatest legacy through his family, whom he loved beyond words. He is survived by his wife Mary of 61 years; four children, daughter Jean Foley and her husband Richard of Gorham, son David Taylor and his wife Rachel of Windham, daughter Kathleen Remillard and her husband Scott of Rangeley, and son Steven Taylor of Otisfield; four grandchildren, Dawn Taylor of Limington, Meghann Dombroski and her husband Aaron of Freeport, Michael Foley and his wife Jessica of Gorham, Brittany McLucas and her husband Shaun of Rangeley; three great grandchildren, Taylor and Eliza Dombroski, Brantley McLucas, and another great-grand-baby on the way; brother Edwin Taylor and his wife Debbie of Park City, Utah; a very special sister-in-law Elizabeth Manning of South Portland; and several nieces and nephews. Dave was predeceased by his parents and his brother Merv Taylor. Dave's family would like to thank the New England Cancer Specialists and the Special Care Unit at Maine Medical Center for their loving care. A mass will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help on Monday, January 23, 2017, at 10:00am with a reception to follow.
