Obituary

RAYMOND - David A. Rickett, 71, of Raymond, Maine, passed away on July 25, 2025 at the Gosnell House in Scarborough after a courageous battle with esophageal cancer. David was born in Portland, the fifth of seven children, to Wilbur and Maxine (Passmore) Rickett. He was educated in Westbrook schools. After high school, in 1972, he joined the Army National Guard where he spent 7 years. In 1973, David started a career with B&M Baked Beans in Portland. He retired in 2019 as a Production Supervisor, after 46 years with the company. David was an avid hunter and to him, any day spent in the woods was a good day. He was always up for a good joke or story and loved to make those around him laugh. He was a fantastic cook, if you've been lucky enough to have any of his cooking (especially his desserts) you knew how much love he put into the food he made. He loved making food for his big extended family, especially for the annual Rickett family Thanksgiving. He is survived by his wife Kelly Rickett, his children, Adam Rickett and his fiancé Alyson Nystrom, Jessica Embury and her husband Mark, Brad Rickett and his wife Lyndsey. Stepchildren Rebecca Haydell and her husband JB, Brad Gagnon and his partner Sarah Letendre, Cady Sanderlin-Reinecker and her husband Adam. Grandchildren Aubrey and Harrison Rickett, Haddie and Jack Haydell, and Bode Gagnon. He's also survived by his siblings Sharon Hau, Dennis Rickett, Richard Rickett (and wife Carol), Terry Rickett (and wife Lynn), and Cindy Gato (and husband Paul) as well as many nieces, nephews and his lifelong friend, Scott Tapley. David was predeceased by his parents, and his sister Lois. He will be deeply missed by his family and the many friends he made in his life. May his soul find peace in the arms of Jesus, and may we carry his memory in our hearts always. David's family would like to send sincere thanks to everyone at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House for the compassionate care that he had received in his final days. A Celebration of David's life will be held at The Portland Elks Lodge, located at 1945 Congress Street, Portland, on Sunday, August 3, 2025 form 12 pm to 4 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in David's memory.
