WINDHAM - David F. Rhodes, 74, of Nash Rd, passed away unexpectedly on Jan. 14, 2016. He was born on April 24, 1941 in Portland, the son of Sidney J. and Madeleen (Sorenson) Rhodes. David was married to his sweetheart, Laura J. (McLellan) Rhodes. Surviving along with his wife of 55 years are their three children. Daughters, Lisa Douglass of Windham, Amy Young and husband Eldren of Standish; Son, Fredrick Rhodes and wife Gaye of Falmouth; Grandchildren, Zachery Douglass, Aaron Young, Marissa Rhodes, Kayleigh Rhodes and a great granddaughter, Zoey Young; Sister, Linda (Rhodes) Adams and husband Frederick of Naples; Brother-in-laws, Wesley and Raymond McLellan, and Luther Merry; Sister-in-laws, Ethel Oddi and Louis McLellan; Aunt, Pauline Varney; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. David was predeceased by his parents. David graduated from Deering High School in 1959. He retired from Southworth Products and Inc. after 45 years of employment. He was a Past Master of Presumpscot Lodge #70 A.M. and F.M., 32nd degree member of Valley of Portland Scottish Rites, member of Kora Shriners, member of the Falmouth Rod and Gun club, and a member of NRA. His interests included deer hunting, trap shooting, enjoying music, and feeding birds. He was an avid reader and loved spending time with his dog, Molly. ~ A ritualistic service will be conducted by the Presumpscot Lodge #70 at 11am on Wednesday, January 20, 2016, at the Dolby Funeral Chapel, 434 River Rd., Windham, followed by a memorial service. Burial will take place in the spring at Arlington Cemetery, Windham.
