Obituary

David A. Pride, 44, passed away unexpectedly on July 9, 2026, following a sudden illness. He was born May 22, 1982, in Portland, the son of Donald C. Pride and Elizabeth A. (Dow) Pride.

David was raised in Windham and graduated from Windham High School before attending Southern Maine Community College. Throughout his career, he held positions with the Portland Press Herald, Portland Harbor Hotel, Cintas, and Burgess Advertising & Marketing, where he developed his passion for marketing, communications, and building meaningful relationships. On August 26, 2006, he married Erin, and together they built a life rooted in partnership, laughter, and a shared passion for serving others. In 2010, he founded Social Impressions, where he combined his creativity, technical expertise, and passion for helping others succeed.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, David will be remembered most for the way he made people feel. Whether speaking to a room full of people or connecting one-on-one, he had a remarkable gift for encouraging others, sharing hope, and believing in the potential of every person he met. Known for his quick wit and playful sense of humor, David had an uncanny ability to bring laughter to nearly every situation and believed that a shared laugh was often the beginning of a meaningful connection. His kindness, infectious smile, and genuine ability to make others feel seen left a lasting impression on all who knew him. His travels to Nunavut and Greenland profoundly impacted his life, igniting a lifelong passion for the Arctic, its people, and conservation. He became a member of The Explorers Club and proudly served on its Conservation Committee, a role that reflected his deep commitment to preserving both the natural world and the communities he had grown to love. Moved by the stories he heard and the challenges faced by many northern communities, he founded Hope for the Arctic, an initiative born from his desire to bring love, hope, and awareness to a part of the world that is often overlooked, but that never left his heart.

David was profoundly influenced by his mentor, H. Bruce Rinker III, Ph.D., whose friendship, guidance, and unwavering belief in him helped shape both his personal and professional journey. Though Bruce preceded him in death, David always considered him family.

David was predeceased by his mother, Elizabeth A. (Dow) Pride; his cherished dogs, Cherry and Precious; and his beloved cats, Gilbert and Puma. He is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 20 years, Erin C. Pride; his father, Donald C. Pride; his brother, Don Pride and his wife, Shelli; their son, Donald "DJ" Pride and his wife, Michaela, and their children, Ellie and Lydia; and their daughter, Danielle Pride; his brother, Tom Pride and his wife, Lori; their son, Derek Pride DO, MBA, and his wife, Carlie, and their daughter, Olivia; his brother, Mike Pride and his wife, Brooke; their children, Charlie Pride and Anne Pride; his cherished dogs, Tootsie and Pancake; and many extended family members and lifelong friends.

A memorial service celebrating David's life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at A.T. Hutchins Funeral Home, 660 Brighton Avenue, Portland, Maine, with a Celebration of Life to follow. In keeping with David's passion for the Arctic and its people, memorial donations may be made to The Arctic Rose Foundation in his memory. Donations may be made by visiting https://arcticrose.org.

While David's time with us was far too short, the kindness, laughter, hope, and love he shared will continue to live on in all whose lives he touched.
