STANDISH—David G. Golder, 85, passed away at home with his loving wife by his side on March 16, 2018. He was born December 7, 1932, a son of Lawrence and Helen (Doe) Golder. He was a born and raised Westbrook man and was very proud of his roots and the relationships he made lifelong friends. David was a graduate of Westbrook High School and went on to serve two years in the Army as a sharp shooter. After his military service, he went on to receive a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maine at Orono and spent his summers working at S.D. Warren in order to pay for his college tuition. David spent his career working as a well-respected mechanical engineer at companies such as American Science & Engineering, MIT Lincoln Lab, TRI Milford, and Sanders Lockheed-Martin. He was the Vice President and Director of the Lions Club in Merrimack, New Hampshire. Some of David's favorite pastimes were taking trips and traveling with his wife Penny. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Elizabeth Golder (Penny Brant) of Standish; daughter Diane (Golder) Mann of Maple Falls, WA; granddaughters Helen and Hannah Mann of Washington; and a brother, Lawrence Golder and his wife Ann of Connecticut. He was predeceased by his brother, Willis Golder and his son, David Joseph Golder. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Liz, Chrissy, and Kathy with VNA hospice for their great care and compassion. Services for David will be private.
