David James Curit, 76, of Portland, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2016 at Maine Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born in Westbrook, the son of Clayton Curit and Arlene (James) Wilson. David entered the Air Force after graduating from Westbrook High School. After serving his country he worked for several years for Shaw's Supermarket before taking a position with the U.S. Post Office where he worked until his retirement. He was devoted to his family, always made family trips a priority, loved bike riding, going to the beach, and eating out. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his daughter Brenda-Lee Curit and two brothers R.C. and Duffy Wilson. David is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Nancy (Main) Curit; daughters Cindy Curit, Julie Curit-Kurasz and husband Ed, and Karen Martinson, all of Portland; five grandsons Jordan and Marcus Curit-Kurasz, and Alex, Nick, and Zack Martinson; brothers Jeff and Payson Wilson. He will be greatly missed by many especially his nephew Scott Curit. A graveside service will be held at 2 PM Friday at Brooklawn Memorial Park, Portland.
