Obituary

DAVID ALLEN TAYLOR, 67, of Windham, passed away at home on December 13, 2025, after a short illness. He was born in Portland, Maine on November 14, 1958 to Carroll and Evelyn (Warren) Taylor of Windham.

David attended Windham schools graduating in the Class of 1977. As an adult, he lived in his late grandmother’s log cabin on the same street he grew up on. David, or “Dash” as he was known to family and friends, was an avid hunter and fisherman, and spent lots of time in Aroostook County at the camp he and his three brothers owned in Hersey. David also loved feeding the birds and was an A-one gardener. “Mr. Green Jeans” was kind enough to grow tomatoes (even though he didn’t like them), to give family and friends. He also enjoyed watching Nascar and attended many New Hampshire races with friends and family. Las Vegas International Speedway and Texas Speedway were other tracks he visited.

In February of 2023, after 42 years of dedicated service, David retired from the Portland Water District. Ending his career as a Utility Specialist, he became the go-to-guy for water quality calls, leaks, and basically all things distribution. When there was a challenging situation, it didn’t take long before someone would say “Let’s send Taylor”.

David was predeceased by his mother and father, and he leaves behind his son Justin, grandson Jacob, brothers Stephen & wife Kathleen, Ronald & wife Jeanine, Richard & wife Kara, an uncle Edward Warren & wife Phyllis, along with nieces, nephews, cousins, and many good friends.

There will be a gathering to honor David this spring. Date and location to be announced.

Donations in his memory may be made to Maine Audubon, 20 Gilsland Farm Rd, Falmouth, ME 04105, (maineaudubon.org) or to your favorite charity.

David was a good man. He will be greatly missed by all those lucky enough to have known him.
