Windham- Darryl Mark Duchaine, 50, lost his valiant battle with cancer on Tuesday, May 1, 2012, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House while in the loving arms of his one true love, Cheryl Skillin, his brother Darren and dear friend, Lori Farley. Darryl was born on January 21, 1962, the son of Donald and Lorraine "Connie" Duchaine. He graduated from Westbrook High School in 1980. As a young man, Darryl worked on towers soon realizing it wasn't for him. He then apprenticed with Wayne Tracy as a plumber where he learned both plumbing and heating skills and the satisfaction of completing a job well done. Darryl remained in the plumbing and heating trade throughout his life working for several local contractors. In the early 1990's he stuck out on his own doing service and installation of plumbing and heating equipment throughout the Greater Portland area. Darryl's greatest joys were boating on Sebago Lake with Cheryl, hunting with his brother Darren, and fishing and camping throughout the State of Maine. Darryl also enjoyed creating and repairing things. There was very little Darryl couldn't do when he put his mind to it. He was especially proud of the heating systems he installed in his home and the oak cabinets he'd built in his previous homes. Darryl was also known for his sense of humor, his excellent camping breakfasts, tasty cookies and famous banana bread. He wil be sorely missed by his family, friends, and clients who knew they could always call on him when they needed him. Besides Cheryl, his fiancé and partner of 26 years, Darryl is survived by his brother Darren Duchaine and his partner Lori Farley of Gray, sister Donna Brown of Porter, brother Dwayne Duchaine of Auburn, sister Debi Duchaine and her partner Barry Mooers of Madison, and several nieces and a nephew. He was predeceased by his father, mother, and brother Donald Duchaine. Relatives and friends are invited to a graveside service which will be held at Blanchard Cemetery, Winn Road, Falmouth, Maine, on Monday, May 7th at 10 AM. A celebration of life will be held at a future date to be announced. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Darryl's memory to Hospice of Southern Maine, 180 US Route One #1, Scarborough, ME 04074.
