Obituary

Dana W. Sanborn 59, of Westbrook, passed away on Monday, January 13, at the Gosnell Memorial House in Scarborough after a long illness. He was born in Portland, the son of Warren and Jean (Gilbert) Sanborn. Dana grew up in Westbrook, graduating from Westbrook High School, and then from SMVTI. After college, Dana worked as a building contractor for many years, and later as a driver for FedEx for 15 years. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and sports fan.  He looked forward every year to his annual fishing trip to Nugent's Camps (probably one of his favorite places) on Chamberlain Lake in the Allagash Wilderness Waterway, often taking members of his family, including his son and daughter starting at a very early age.  He also was a dog lover, having owned many golden retrievers, which he trained and ran in dog trials for many years.  But most of all, he loved being a father and just spending time with his children.  Dana was passionate about his interests and as a result his children enjoy many of the same interests. Dana is survived by his parents Warren Jr. and Jean Sanborn of Westbrook; his son Kyle of Fort Gordon GA; his daughter Kaitlyn of Westbrook; a brother Gary and his wife Gail Sanborn of Westbrook and their children, Nate Sanborn (wife Paige) and Alison Sanborn; a sister Nancy and her husband Arthur Morse of Westbrook and their children, Andrew, Jeffrey and Gregory Morse. A Graveside service will be held in the spring. On line condolences may be expressed at www.blaisandhayfuneralhome.com.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Southern Maine Hospice, 180 US Rt 1, Scarborough, ME 04074.
