Dale Hicks, 61, of North Yarmouth, passed away at his home, on Saturday, February 8th, with his wife Elizabeth by his side. Dale was born in Portland, Maine, the son of Roger F Hicks and Blanche R Messer-Hicks. He was raised in Falmouth Maine, along with 5 siblings and attended Falmouth High School. After high school, Dale attended WyoTech in Laramie Wyoming, to pursue his interest and natural abilities with cars. Dale had the skills of 10 men, but working on cars was his favorite, MOPAR specifically. Dale and his brother Roger ran Morrills Corner Auto, in Portland Maine, for many years, where they were known for their honesty and generosity with all of their customers. Because Dale was naturally good at "fixing" things, he was often in demand, and he didn't know how to say "no" It was always "where do you need me" or "how can I help". It was his nature to give. The highlight of Dales' life were his children, Travis, his wife Emily and their daughter Roux, son Tyler and daughter Zuzu. He was the most proud of being called "dad" and later glowed at the chance to be "Papa". He loved passing along the many skills he'd learned to his children, because that always meant spending time together. He taught his daughter how to change her oil, same as he taught his sons and he built his dream garage, in hopes of spending his retirement years restoring classic cars. Family time was his favorite time, whether it was his own children, his siblings and their spouses, his in-laws who adored him, nieces, nephews or his extended step-family, the Smiths. Dale loved people and stayed in touch over the course of his life with countless friends. Whenever there was a party or gathering, the joke was that Dale was the first to come and the last to leave. He was funny and he loved to laugh and socialize. He had an infectious smile, a loving heart, bottomless generosity and strength of character that couldn't be measured. In his honor, a gathering for friends and family is being planned for summer 2025. We'll post those details once we have them. Dale is predeceased by his parents, Roger and Blanche, his brother Dana Hicks and his step-father Don Smith. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Elizabeth, sons Travis and Tyler, daughter Zuzu, daughter in law Emily and his granddaughter Roux, as well as, his siblings, Mike Hicks, wife Cathryn and their children, Roger Hicks, wife Terri and their children, Leslie Hicks-Tracy and her children and Manuela DosPassos and her children. Dale fought a long, hard battle with cancer, beginning in 2018 If attitude and inner strength could cure cancer, he'd be with us today. He never gave up, not for a minute. He never felt sorry for himself. His concern was only ever for the people he might leave behind. There is an empty seat at the table today, that only he could fill. He was genuinely loved. He gave everything he had to those he loved. He was one of a kind and he will be deeply missed.
