Obituary

Cynthia (Berry) Leavitt, 69 Saco - After a long battle with cancer, Cynthia Jean Berry Leavitt, 69, passed away on December 27, 2017 at Seal Rock Healthcare in Saco. A lifelong resident of Southern Maine, she was born to Carlton L. Berry and Dorothy (Redlon) Berry on March 8, 1948, in Portland Maine. Cynthia grew up in Gorham, attending Gorham High School and graduating in 1966. She spent almost 40 years working for Central Maine Power. Where she met many great friends and her husband of 40 years, Foster Leavitt Jr. She loved working in the customer service department and having all the details of when her friends and family will be getting power back after a storm. Some of Cyndy's favorite memories were going to the camp on Granny Kent Pond in Shapleigh in the summers. Her whole family would spend time there and enjoy the swimming, sun, fireworks, and laughter. Another family tradition that was dear to her heart was the many Clambakes in the backyard. They would happen every August and she loved seeing her family grow each year. Cyndy also traveled with family and friends throughout her life. Some of her favorite trips were to Gettysburg and Florida. Cyndy loved visiting and going out to eat with family and friends. One of her first questions when people came to visit was "So where are we going to eat?" She loved seafood and onions rings. Every year she would be incredibly happy to say goodbye to winter with a trip to Hout's in Camp Ellis. Throughout her life Cyndy displayed an optimistic attitude. Even though her battle with cancer was long and filled with setbacks, her positive outlook drew many remarks from family, friends, and caregivers. She dealt with her fate with dignity and grace that would make anyone proud. Cynthia was predeceased by her parents, her husband Foster C. Leavitt Jr., and her brother-in-law Stanley Davis. She is survived by her sons Lawrence (Gus) Dunham and wife Debbie of Wells, Christopher Leavitt and wife Selena of Buxton, Michael Leavitt and wife Judy of Saco, and Martin Leavitt of Waterboro; daughters Lee-Ann Leavitt and companion George McKinnon of Salisbury MA., and Laine (Leavitt) Smith and husband Anthony of South Berwick; sisters Carla (Berry) Davis of Brunswick, Martha (Berry) Towle and husband Terry of Gorham; grandchildren Corey and Lauren Dunham, Colby and Finley Leavitt and Ethan and Xander Brown, Amanda (Leavitt) Todd and husband Jeremy, Natalie Leavitt and fiance Ryan Perry; great-grandchildren Brady and Madelyn Todd.
