Corey Lee Alley, cherished husband, son, brother, friend and dedicated public servant, passed away with family by his side on August 8, 2024, at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center. He was 46 years old. Born in Ellsworth, Maine, on June 9, 1978, Corey grew up on Beals Island and was an active member of the Downeast Maine community, coaching little league and baseball for many years. Corey was a Mason and a Shriner, and before beginning his career with the Maine Department of Corrections, Corey worked in various facets of the seafood industry, running wharfs and managing both quahog and mussel processing plants. Corey began his career with the Maine Department of Corrections in 2007 at the Downeast Correctional Facility where he began as an Officer and later as Sergeant, CTI and CTI Supervisor at the Maine Correctional Center. Corey received numerous awards and recognitions over the years and most recently was critical to the success of the construction efforts at the Maine Correctional Center. Corey spoke frequently about his many work friends and was well-respected by his colleagues. Over the years, Corey's dedication to his role and his colleagues led him to serve as the president of his union chapter, where he was a strong advocate for the rights and well-being of his fellow workers. Corey and his father Rock were the only father-son duo to serve as presidents of their local union chapters at the same time. Corey's passion for his work was surpassed only by his love for his family and friends. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Farrah and a loving fur dad to their two dogs, Baxter Mohegan and Roxy May. His family and friends remember him as a man of great strength and kindness, always ready with a helping hand, word of encouragement, or the funniest one-liner you've ever heard. Corey had many hobbies he loved, including watching his favorite sports teams - especially the New York Yankees, New York Jets, UNC Tar Heels, Alabama Crimson Tide and, of course, the Greely Rangers. Corey loved to camp with his family at Timberland Acres RV Park in Trenton, and he especially loved his trips to Mohegan Sun. One of Corey's favorite pastimes was playing golf with his dad. Corey is survived by his beloved wife, Farrah and their fur children, Baxter and Roxy; parents, Rock Alley and Carmen Feeney-Alley; and Sharon Hill-Alley; mother-in-law, Nellie Emerson; grandmother, Lorna Alley; siblings, Jamie Alley, Kayley Walker and Mike Simoes; brother and sister-in-law, Larry Emerson Jr. and Rhonda; and their children: Larry III and Catherine, Kianna, Kyle, Patrick, Kayla and Katlyne; uncle, Bill Bagley; cousins, Shane, Eric, Austin, and Madison; as well as numerous extended family members and many cherished friends. He was predeceased by his grandfather, Dick E. Alley; grandfather Lloyd Hill; grandmother Glenice Hill; father-in-law, Larry Emerson Sr.; uncle, Galen Alley; aunt Karen Hill-Bagley; and treasured dog, Ruby May Alley. Visiting hours will be on Friday, August 23 from 4-7pm at Dolby, Blais and Segee in Windham. Corey's funeral will be on Saturday, August 24 at 2pm at Dolby, Blais and Segee in Windham. A memorial service to celebrate Corey's life will be held Saturday, August 31 at 1pm at the Church of Jesus Christ, Lamb of God (14 Main Street, Jonesport, ME 04649).
