Obituary

Westbrook – Cora Blanchard "Tillie" (Laverty) Duchaineau, 89, died on September 29, 2017, at the Millbrook Estates in Westbrook. She was born in Portland, on July 17, 1928, the daughter of the late Cora Blanchard and H. Clayton Laverty. Tillie was a 1946 graduate Westbrook High School, and earned her BA Degree in 1951, from the University of Maine-Orono. She worked in the Research department of SD Warren and Scott Paper Company for over 37 years, and retired from there in 1990. Tillie was an active member of the Highland Lake Congregational Church UCC in Westbrook since 1942, and served in many church offices over the years. She was a member of the Church Ladies Guild and a Past Matron of Beulah Chapter #5 and a current member of Mizpah Chapter #3, Order of the Eastern Star. Tillie was also active in her community as a member of the Grand Cross of Color of the International Order of Rainbow for Girls, served as a board member of the former Westbrook Assembly #2, International O.R.G., a current member of the Westbrook Historical. society, Rivermeadow Golf Club and Ladies League. Tillie enjoyed long-time interest in participating in different sports, and especially watching basketball, golf, and baseball on TV. Tillie is survived by several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband, Paul Duchaineau, her twin sister, Clyda "Posie" Morse and sister, Janet L. Miele. Per Tillie's request, all services will be private.
