Constance Catherine "Cathy" Bourgeois, 79, of Westbrook, passed away on August 24, 2025, after a long illness, surrounded by family and friends. She was born on November 22, 1945, in Portland, ME, the daughter of the late Constance C. (Dunphe) and Ralph L. Towle, Sr. A graduate of Gorham High School, Cathy went on to attend Andover College, where she earned a certificate in secretarial studies. She had a career that spanned over 25 years at the University of Southern Maine, working as an administrative assistant in both the Department of Education and the Department of Communication. Cathy loved to travel to Las Vegas to play the slots and was an avid reader and crossword enthusiast. She cherished the many years of friendship with Marjean D'Anjou and Pam Sharpe, who were her closest friends for nearly 60 years. Above all, Cathy was devoted to her role as "Grammie" to her four grandchildren, treasuring every moment spent with them. In addition to her parents, Cathy was predeceased by the father of her sons, Samuel DiFillipo, Sr.; her husband, Wilfred Bourgeois; her life partner of 30 years, Adelbert "Del" Harriman; and her beloved grand dog, Bella. She is survived by her sons, Michael DiFillipo and his wife, Carolyn, of Casco, and Aaron DiFillipo of Westbrook; four grandchildren, Sage DiFillipo of Windham, and Alexis, Caitlyn, and Delaney DiFillipo of Casco; three brothers, Ralph (Clare) Towle, Jr. of Old Orchard Beach, Terrance (Martha) Towle, and Michael (Sheryle) Towle of Gorham; and a sister, Deborah Sanborn of Westbrook. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to all those who provided care, love, and support to Cathy during her illness. While it is impossible to name everyone, please know that your kindness and compassion made a meaningful difference in her life and will be remembered with deep appreciation. The family would also like to extend special thanks to Dr. Sarah Ketchum, her oncologist. Lastly, a special note of gratitude goes to Michael, Cathy's devoted brother, whose love and tireless support were a constant source of strength over the years and during her illness. His selflessness and care provided comfort to her and the entire family, and we will forever be grateful to him. In accordance with Cathy's wishes, there will be no formal service. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Donations in her memory can be made to the ASPCA or any animal humane society.
