Obituary

Summerfield Florida - Conrad Bruce Bacon, 81, died Sunday September 18, 2016 at the Brantley Hospice House. He was born September 29, 1934, in Westbrook, a son of Leroy and Marion (Gray) Bacon. Conrad grew up in Windham and Gorham and attended local schools. Following school Conrad joined the US Army and carried a great sense of patriotism throughout his life. He enjoyed a 41-year career as a commercial truck driver and drove for Cook Concrete, A & P Supermarkets, and Shaw's Supermarkets. Conrad and his wife Leona moved to Florida in the late 90's but his love for Maine and the outdoors carried on. He had a passion for hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and trips to the family camp in Eustis. Conrad also enjoyed journaling, letter writing, and took great comfort in writing letters to family while on the road. He held great memories of trips in recent years with his son Russell to Montana and Wisconsin. Conrad will be remembered for his sense of humor, love for politics, and as a passionate cribbage and yahtzee player, which he still played daily with Leona. In addition to his parents Conrad was predeceased by his siblings, Leroy Lewis Bacon Jr., Kermit A Bacon, and Bethany Ruth Carlton, and a son-in-law, Joshua Beaulieu. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Leona Jean (Page) Bacon; children, Victor Bacon and his wife Cheryl of Gorham, Katherine Beaulieu or North Gorham, Linda Johnson of Saco, Russell Bacon and his wife Amy of Windham, and Bethany Turgeon and her husband James Jr. of Summerfield, FL; grandchildren, Anna Rickett, Tracy Rickett, Victor Bacon, Christopher Ames, Amanda Johnson, Amber Johnson, Austin Barker, Shane Bacon, Emelia Smith, James Turgeon III, and Corey Turgeon, and 8 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 2:00PM Saturday November 5, at the Dolby Funeral Chapel 434 River Road, Windham. Following the service, a reception celebrating Conrad's life will be held at Laureen and Daryl Dyer's home at 219 North Gorham Road, Gorham. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory, may be made to Brandley Hospice, 17395 SE 109th Terrace Road, Summerfield, FL 34491
