Obituary

Clifford D. Wescott, 77 of Westbrook, Maine passed away peacefully on May 21, 2020 with his loving family by his side. He was born and raised in Westbrook, son of Everett and Ruth (Deering) Wescott. After Graduating from Westbrook High School Cliff worked at SD Warren for 29 years. Later, he worked at Harmon's Hamburg and then for several years for Jim and Mark Foye at J & M Incorporated. On June 29th, 1963 Cliff married his best friend, soul mate and love of his life, Dolly (May) Wescott. Their love for one another was beyond measure. It was a soul connection in which no seam was visible. Together they had 3 children; a son, Scott Wescott, and his wife Kristen of Limerick, a daughter Jan Anastasoff and her husband Scott, of Gorham and a son predeceased at birth. Cliff especially loved his role as a grandfather. His grandchildren Kelley, Kolby and Karlee and Melody were the lights of his life. "Pepere" was their biggest fan attending many field hockey, basketball, softball games and shows! Always giving sage advice, "don't you ever put water in Habitant Soup." Survived by brother Donald Wescott. Predeceased by brothers James, Richard, Raymond, Robert and Dennis Wescott. After retiring he enjoyed playing bingo with his wife, and golfing with all his buddies. Every November he enjoyed going to his hunting camp with his son Scott, grandson Kolby, brother Bobby and "other friends". They played many games of scat and cribbage. At camp he was known as the "camp cook". Cliff enjoyed auto racing and instilled the love of the sport into his wife and children. It was something they did together as a family. Cliff started out racing at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in the C Class and Limited Sportsman Division. After racing he remained an important fixture at the track first as a member of the MSSCRA board of directors, Pit Steward, and scoring official. Cliff received the 1982 Memorial Blazer Award and the Lifetime Achievement award in 2008, from Beech Ridge Motor Speedway. Anyone that had the pleasure of knowing Cliff described him as an amazing, hard working man who was funny with his keen sense of humor. He would have done anything for anyone. He loved to tinker around his garage and enjoyed making cribbage boards for his friends and family. Due to the current coronavirus pandemic the family has decided to wait to have a proper gathering when friends and family are able to come together and celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers, donations in Cliff's name may be made to: Hospice of Southern Maine/Gosnell Memorial Hospice House.
