Obituary

GRAY—Clayton Joseph Douglass, 61, passed away on December 1, 2018 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough after an 8 year long battle with cancer. Clayton was born July 31, 1957, a son of Harry and Joan (Wakem) Douglass. He was a graduate of Westbrook High School and continued his education for welding at SMCC (formerly SMVTI). On May 30, 1981, Clayton married Mildred Sparks and together they had a daughter, Rachel. Clayton spent his working years in maintenance for Saunders Brothers, and later as a mechanic and welder for Blue Rock and Pike Industries. Clayton was a jack of all trades and was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting, fishing, and metal detecting. A family man, Clayton truly enjoyed taking fishing trips and especially loved the special time he spent with his grandson Hayden, passing down his knowledge of the outdoors. Clayton will be remembered for his storytelling; good sense of humor, and a loving man who valued family time above anything else. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Mildred Douglass; a daughter, Rachel Douglass and her partner, John Politano; and grandson, Hayden Dyer; brothers, Scott Douglass, and James Douglass and his wife Rebecca, and their daughter Leah Douglass; and a sister in law Evelyn Spearin and her daughter Sarah Fitzgerald. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at 6pm at the American Legion Post 62, 17 Dunn St., Westbrook, ME 04092. In lieu of flowers, donations in Clayton's name may be made to The Friends of the Maine Wildlife Park, PO BOX 1231, Gray, ME 04039. Arrangements are in the care of the Windham Chapel of Dolby Blais & Segee, 434 River Rd., Windham, ME 04062.
