Obituary

Windham – ClaraBelle "Cuddy" Dunham, 96, passed on December 22, 2017 in Portland. She was born in Nova Scotia, the daughter of J.C. and Mabel (Negus) Hunt. Cuddy grew up in Portland, and was a 1939 graduate of Portland High School. In 1941, she married the love of her life, Harold "Red" Dunham. The two had moved to Windham after Red's return from the war, and it was here where they raised their four children. Cuddy was proud to have been part of a five-generation family, not once, but twice in her lifetime. Her family was, of course, her main priority, and always came before anything else. Cuddy was a member of the North Windham Union Church, where she was active in the Woman's Guild and the Cross Roads Garden Club. Cuddy and Red enjoyed dancing, whether it was round, square or line. Together, they were members of the F & G Square Dance Club in Gray. Cuddy also enjoyed handy work, especially knitting or crocheting. She was the type of person never to turn down an invitation to go anywhere, and always had a smile for those she met. Cuddy is survived by her daughters, Donna Dunham of Windham, Claudia Hawkes and husband Russell of Gray, and Deborah Blanchard and husband Newman of Leeds; son, Paul Dunham and wife Christina of Upton; 11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her sister, Rita Paige; two brothers; and a grandson. A funeral will be celebrated at 1pm on Friday, December 29, 2017 at the Windham Chapel of Dolby, Blais & Segee, 434 River Rd., Windham. A period of visitation will be held from 12 noon until the time of the service. Burial will be in the spring at Smith Cemetery.
