Claire Marx 11/10/42-5/19/24 WINDHAM - Claire passed away unexpectedly at home in Windham due to heart complications. Born in Rumford Me where she was raised by her parents Phil and Esther. The family summered in Rangeley at their family camp during Claire's childhood. Claire graduated high school from Gould Academy in 1961, and went on to get her degree from Vermont College. After college graduation, Claire worked for WLOB radio station for 12 years holding many positions such as: office manager, sales secretary, copy writer, and sale representative. In the early 1980's, Claire's love for dogs took her down another career path. In 1983, she opened the Pet Stop-a full service pet grooming salon. Claire operated the Pet Stop right up until her death. Claire had a passion for Irish Setters and joined the Irish Setter Club of America in 1972. Her dogs were her life, and she showed them with so much pride with all the dogs going on to win championships. Claire was very active in Irish Setter rescue and continually worked rescuing and rehabbing Irish Setters all over New England. In 1986 Claire joined the Saccarappa Obedience Club and held the current secretary position. In both clubs, Claire met her closest, dearest friends and had life long friendships. Claire can only be described as generous, kind, sassy, loving, encouraging, and was always there to help a friend in need. She had the best one liners! Claire is survived by cousins Rebecca Schwind of Farmingdale Me, Philip Schwind of Concord NH, and Mark Harrington of Bethel Me. Claire left behind one dog, her beloved Garth, who stayed by her side until the very end. Predeceased by her parents Phil and Esther Marx. A private service will be held at a later date.
