Windham- Christopher David Valeriani Young, 32, died on March 18, 2017. He was born on April 17, 1984, the son of John, Jr. and Donna (Valeriani) Young. Christopher was a loving father, fiancé, and friend. Brilliant and intelligent, Christopher always strived to better himself and aid those in need. After finishing his GED, he began taking classes at SMCC in business. Years later, he found himself at Kaplan University, in hopes of having a career helping troubled youth. Christopher was known for always reading and writing poetry; he would aimlessly stroll the streets of Portland, pen in mouth and book in hand- his favorite books being first person history including Frederick Douglas and Plenty of Coups. Christopher was the father of three wonderful children, who were his world, and gave him immeasurable joy. In addition to his parents, Christopher is survived by his children, Christopher Young, Jr., Benjamin Hardesty, and Chesney Young; his significant other, Brittany Hardesty; siblings, John Young and his significant other Kaylee Neill, Lisa Young, and Izaiah Green; paternal grandfather, John Young, Sr.; paternal grandmother, Linda Davis; and his auntsand uncles, Valentino Valeriani, Penny "Lucy" Hall, Michael Skillings, Joe and Kathy Young, Jeff Young, and Jim and Brenda Young. A period of visitation will be held from 5-7pm on Thursday, March 23, at the Dolby Funeral Chapel, 434 River Rd., Windham, where a funeral service will be celebrated at 11am on Friday, March 24. Burial will follow the service at Brooklawn Memorial Park, 2002 Congress St., Portland. Memorial donations in Christopher's honor, may be made in support of his children's care and education, to a trust fund which is being established in the coming days.
