Scarborough, Maine. On October 10, 2014 Charles (Chuck) Frederick Vokey made his journey to heaven. He was born in Portland, Maine on August 15, 1929 and was the youngest of four children of Mark and Bertha Vokey. He graduated from Portland High School where he played football and basketball. He also was an amateur boxer in his younger years and was a member of the Portland Eagles. Charles was a painter for most of his life. After he retired he enjoyed volunteering at Prop and the Gorham House. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Betty Lou Vokey of Gorham, and he was a wonderful father to his children, Harry and his wife Lee-Ann of Westbrook, Joseph and his wife Cathy of Portland, Cindy Woods and her husband Gerald of Gorham, Timothy and his Fiancée Cathy Blake of Gorham, and Statie Luxton and her husband Scott of Clearwater, FL. He also had two other sons Charles and Gregory from a previous marriage. He also had 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren of whom he enjoyed immensely. He is also survived by his sisters Jessie Baker and Marcie Noble of Portland, as well as several nieces and nephews. Charles enjoyed playing golf in his spare time and playing Santa at holidays. He is predeceased by his mother and father, his brother George (Buddy) Vokey and his daughter Linda R. Manchester. The family would like to thank Brentwood Manor, Maine Medical Center, and the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House for the wonderful care he received. There will be visiting hours held on Thursday October 16, from 9-11 am with a funeral service starting at 11 at Blais and Hay Funeral Home. Interment will be at a later date.
