Portland, Catherine G. (Kearns) Leland, 70, passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice in Scarborough. She was born and raised in Portland, the daughter of James and Dorothy (Fitzpatrick) Kearns, and attended Portland schools. Catherine enjoyed dancing and listening to music, especially in most recent years at 75 State Street. She was very giving of herself and would help anyone in need. She enjoyed her time living at 75 State Street and was grateful to all the staff. Catherine was predeceased by her husband Alston Leland and a sister Dottie Peeples. She is survived by a son John Calvert of NJ; a sister Mary Sorenson and her husband Richard of South Portland; grandchildren John Calvert III and Caitlyn Calvert, nieces and nephews, and two great nephews.
