Raymond – Carrie Jackson Kelso, 86, died on May 12, 2016 at Ledgewood Manor, in Windham. She was born in Van Buren, AR, the daughter of Chester and Charlene Jackson. Carrie grew up in Arkansas, and then moved to California, where she graduated from high school. She went on to attend Arkansas State and the Los Angeles City College, where she met her husband, Ray Kelso, at one of the college functions. They were married on September 5, 1950, in California where they started their family. Together, they raised seven children, moving frequently across the United States, Canada, and even to Greece. Family was most important to Carrie, and always came first. When she wasn't caring for her children, Carrie volunteered at the Windham Library, a place that was only second to her children. She had a love of books, which she instilled in her children. Carrie also enjoyed gardening, and loved her begonias. She enjoyed classical music. Carrie is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, Ray; six children, Gregory Kelso of Athens, GA, Mark Kelso of Gorham, Scott Kelso of Windham, Melissa Maksimenko and husband Greg of Chatsworth, CA, Paul Kelso of Raymond, and Catherine Melinda Kelso and husband James Doten of Windham; grandchildren Jonathon, Brian, and Kevin; brother William Jackson of Rogers, AR; and niece Maryann. In addition to her parents, Carrie is predeceased by her son, Ross. The family would like to thank all the staff at Ledgewood Manor for all of their caring and support they gave to Carrie and her family. A funeral service will be held at 10am on Tuesday, May 17, 2016, at the Dolby Funeral Chapel, 434 River Rd., Windham. Burial will follow to the Raymond Hill Cemetery, Raymond.
