Obituary

SCARBOROUGH - Carolyn Marie (Breton) Girard passed away on November 10, 2017, at the age of 73, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born the third child of Rudolph and Laura (Auclair) Breton. She grew up in Westbrook, Maine and attended Westbrook schools. A business major in high school, she worked for the City of Westbrook from 1963 to 1968 as a receptionist and bookkeeping clerk. She then began a 28-year career at the Central Maine Power Co. office in Portland, working first as a billing clerk and then as a dispatcher for the line and meter departments. After her retirement from CMP in 1996, she continued to do the bookkeeping and accounting work for her husband's business, JR's Auto and Truck Repair, located in Scarborough. Although they had no children, Carolyn was a beloved aunt to six nieces and nephews and five grand nieces and nephews. She was an avid NASCAR fan, and for many years worked with her husband Junior in organizing and running snowmobile and four-wheeler races in both Maine and New Hampshire. An enthusiastic candlepin bowler, she was a member of various bowling teams at the Colonial Bowling Alley in Westbrook for many years. Carolyn loved life, her friends, her family and her two Keeshond dogs. Always fun to be around, she had a wonderful sense of humor and laughed often. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Herman (Junior); her brother Rudolph R. Breton and his wife Rita; her brother Michael C. Breton; and a number of nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Seaside Rehabilitation and Healthcare in Portland for the compassionate care they provided during her last days. Visiting hours celebrating Carolyn's life will be held from 11am – 1pm on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at the Westbrook Chapel of Dolby, Blais and Segee, 35 Church St., Westbrook. Burial and graveside service will follow at 1:30pm at St. Hyacinth Cemetery, 296 Stroudwater St., Westbrook.
