WESTBROOK – Carol Ann Hurd, 88, passed away on November 19, 2022. She was born in Portland on May 10, 1934 to Ludger and Iola (Royles) Violette. Carol was a long time resident of Westbrook. She worked for New England Telephone after graduating from Westbrook High School in 1952. After raising two sons, she went back to work at Amica Insurance Co., retiring in 1992. She married Carleton Hurd in 1983 and they enjoyed traveling together and spending time with her grandchildren. Carol was a member of Highland Lake Church and Highland Lake Grange. In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by her sons, David Gowen and his wife, Kathleen of Westbrook, and Daniel Gowen and his wife, Tiffany of Delta, PA; brothers, Bruce Violette and wife, Judy of Buxton, and Richard Violette of Orlando, FL; grandchildren, Nathaniel Gowen, Hannah Gowen, Priscilla Gowen, Elijah Gowen, Gabriel Gowen and Daniel Gowen, II. Her family is thankful to the staff of Seaside Nursing Home for the care they provided Carol. Burial at Woodlawn Cemetery, Westbrook will be private for family.
