Carla Marie Mitchell, 74, of Gorham, passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2017, surrounded by her children, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, ME. She was born July 8, 1942 in Pipestone, MN to George and Clara (Forman) Ring, and grew up in Ihlen, MN. After marrying Delmer Mitchell, she resided in Sioux Falls, SD, where she raised her family and worked as a receptionist for First Lutheran Church and Wells Fargo Bank. After the death of her beloved husband Del, Carla moved to Gorham, Maine in 2005. She joined Trinity Lutheran Church in Westbrook where she made many friends and enjoyed an active schedule of diverse activities. She was a warm, loving and supportive person, especially when it came to her grandchildren. She took great pride in maintaining a beautifully decorated home where she enjoyed hosting friends and family. She is survived by her four children: Kimberly Lehmann, and her husband Robert, of Scarborough, ME, Rebecca Mitchell and her husband Scott Johnson, of Minneapolis, MN, Alison Maurer and her husband John, of Sioux Falls, SD and David Mitchell and his wife Kelly, of Norfolk, NE; eight grandchildren: Camille Turner, Griffin and Burke Maurer, Eric and Alex Lehmann, and Graciella, Dawson and Jameson Mitchell. She is also survived by her siblings; Roy Ring and his wife Judy, of Denver, Anita Martin and her husband Larry, of Austin, TX and Michael Ring of Des Moines, IA. Family and friends are invited to a memorial service on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 12:00 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church, 612 Main St. Westbrook. Services are under the care of Dolby Funeral Chapel, Gorham ME. In lieu of flowers, Carla expressed the wish that donations be sent to Trinity Lutheran Church, 612 Main Street, Westbrook, ME 04092.
