Obituary

Bruce Wayne Smart, 65, of Tate Lane Windham, passed away peacefully Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014 at Maine Medical Center. He was born in Gorham, the son of Joseph and Gladys Mae Smart.  Bruce worked at the Portland Jetport for National and Hertz Car Rental, and then took a position with his brother at Crystal Clean Car Wash.  He later became a driver for General Courier which he has done for many years. Bruce enjoyed the many trips he took to New Hampshire with his wife Patricia over the years.  They enjoyed exploring different areas in the state.  He also loved his work and the places he would visit along his route.  Bruce also cherished the many hours he spent playing video games with his son Terrence when he was younger. He is survived by his wife Patricia (Dunn) Smart of Windham his mother Gladys M. Phinney of Gray; son Terrence Smart and his wife Anna of Westbrook; brothers Bryan Phinney and wife Karen of Gray, Christian Phinney and wife Brenda of New Gloucester, Abraham Phinney and girlfriend Kristine Ross of Raymond, and Kerry Phinney and girlfriend Jamie Ridlon of So. Paris; sisters Maxine Lynch and soul mate Denise Thompson of La Mesa, CA, and Heather Phinney and her partner Ernie Rogers of Gray; his father and mother in law Ed and Dawn Dunn of Westbrook; sister-in-law Rhonda Lawrence of Randolph; brother-in-law John Dunn and wife Vicki of Portland; and many nieces and nephews.  He was also predeceased by a brother-in-law Ed Dunn III. A visitation will be held from 5 PM to 6:15 PM Tuesday at Blais & Hay Funeral Home, 35 Church St., Westbrook followed by a memorial service at 6:15 PM.  Interment will be in the spring in Calvary Cemetery, South Portland.  On line condolences may be expressed at blaisandhayfuneralhome.com.
