Obituary

Bruce L. Chuluda, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 15, 2015. He was born in Lawrence, MA, the son of Leo and Marion (Militus) Chuluda.  He was raised in Middleton, MA, and graduated from Masconomet High School and U Mass Amherst with a Bachelor's Degree in Finance. Bruce worked for Casco Northern Bank for many years and for a few years at First NH Bank of Maine, which later became First Maine Bank. He was the Chief Operating Officer for the Westbrook Community Hospital and project manager during their merger with Mercy Hospital.  He later took a job with the Maine Turnpike where he has worked for several years.  Bruce also served as a Captain in the Army National Guard for many years. Bruce was very active in the Community and served as President of several Boards including Southern Maine Health Laundry, the American Institute of Banking, Westbrook Community Hospital, and the Westbrook Chamber of Commerce where he was instrumental in making the Westbrook Together Days the event it is today.  He also served on the Public Safety Commission, and was a Past Commander of the American Legion Post #62. Bruce became a Ward 2 Councilor for the City of Westbrook in 2002 and became Mayor in 2004, serving three terms until 2010. Bruce had been very active throughout his lifetime, he enjoyed golfing, traveling, and cherished the time he spent with his granddaughter Madison. He was predeceased by his wife Victoria (Gallant) Chuluda in 2007; his parents; a sister Janice Dagley; sister-in-laws Audrey Keith and Jeannie Keith; and a brother-in-law William Keith. Bruce is survived by his daughter Lisa A. Chuluda and her partner Joel H. Brown; granddaughter Madison L. Brown; stepson David T. Corkery; his life partner Alison McClure; his brother Philip and his children Adam, Sara and Nathan; a brother-in-law Rick Dagley and his children Emma, Matthew, and their families; sister-in-laws Roberta Morse (Kenneth), Nancy Merry (James), Beverly Keith, Karen Keith, and their families. Visiting hours will be on Thursday from 4 to 8 PM at Blais & Hay Funeral Home, 35 Church St., Westbrook.  A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Friday at the Westbrook Warren Congregational Church followed by a reception in the church Fellowship Hall.
