Obituary

Bonnie Jean Gillis June 18, 1951 - May 13, 2023 With an extremely heavy heart, we announce that Bonnie Jean Gillis, 71 of Naples, ME, passed away on May 13, 2023 at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine. She was born on June 18, 1951 to William and Barbara Leeman in Portland, ME. Bonnie graduated from Westbrook High School in 1969. After graduating she worked for Hood Ice Cream and later went on to become a Homemaker so she could raise her two daughters. While she was a homemaker she enjoyed taking in and watching other children as well. In later years, she went on to work at Sebago Shoe Company. Bonnie enjoyed baking, camping and spending time with her family outside, alongside her beloved Missy and current companion Husky dog, Maya. Bonnie was the most sweet kind-hearted person who never complained about anything. Who was always willing to go above and beyond for the ones she loved. On July 31, 1971 she married her life long love, Gary Gillis in Westbrook, ME. They were the prime example of what loving one another until death due you part looked like. A love anybody and everybody was blessed to witness. Although overcome by her lengthy battle with multiple sclerosis and linked illnesses, she leaves us all with the most fond memories. Through it all, her kind, generous soul, and open loving heart were always on display. Bonnie is survived by Husband, Gary Gillis of Naples; two daughters, Becky Gillis (Chris Jensen) of Sebego, ME, daughter, Shellie Gillis (Chris Elderd) of Westbrook, ME; brother, Dennis Leeman (Judy) of Florida; and two grandchildren, Christopher and Kaitlyn Greenlaw. She is proceeded by both her parents and brother, William Leeman. Visitation will be held Monday, May 22, 2023 from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Dolby, Blais & Segee-Windham Chapel, 434 River Road, Windham, ME. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at 10:00 am at the Dolby Blais & Segee - Windham Chapel, Windham, ME, with Gregg Jones, officiating. Burial will take place in the Woodlawn Cemetery.
