LEWISTON-- Blanche Lucille Terjelian, 93, a resident of Montello Manor in Lewiston, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on December 22, 2016. Blanche was born April 12, 1923, a daughter of Theodore and Alice (LaLiberte) Parent. As a young girl with a strong French background, she grew up in Watertown, Massachusetts where she attended school and learned how to speak English. She attended Watertown High School as well as Northeastern University in Boston. During World War II, Blanche worked as a stitcher, making military overcoats for soldiers. On September 29, 1945, she married Robert H. Terjelian. Together they had a daughter, Mary, and later adopted two loving sons, Ted and Paul, and raised their family in Vermont. Blanche was a life-long learner who enjoyed reading, crafting slippers and hats for her family, playing the piano, and meaningful conversation. Her talents in the kitchen will be remembered through her delicious recipes and cooking from scratch. Blanche was a devout catholic, attending daily Mass. In the 60's she was named a Grand Regent of Catholic Daughters of America. Blanche, or "Gram" was a generous and kind hearted mother who loved children. In her later years, she opened her home to her granddaughter, Blanche, whom she proudly raised. Gram was a naturally genuine soul who built relationships with people by showing her care and concern for others. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Mary Emmons of Windham, and Ted Terjelian and his wife, Brenda of Lewiston; a daughter in law, Lisa Terjelian; siblings, Nancy Fagan and Virginia Patterson; many grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert; a son, Paul; son in law, Joseph Emmons; and siblings Francis Parent and Louise Natoli. A service will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at 1:00 PM at the chapel at New Maine Veteran's Cemetery, 163 Mt. Vernon Rd., Augusta, ME. Following the service, burial will take place at the Maine Veteran's Cemetery on Civic Center Drive in Augusta.
