Obituary

STANDISH-- It is with great sadness we share that Betty Louise Freeman, 77, daughter of Phyllis and Alfred St. Pierre and loving wife of Charles Freeman, passed away peacefully on February 9th, 2017 at her home in Standish ME. Our mother was born in Westbrook, ME and spent the majority of her life caring for others. She was a certified nurse's aide caring for the elderly for many years. Betty, along with our father Charles, also opened their home and hearts to numerous foster children for over 25 years. Mom loved being a homemaker. She loved knitting, quilting, canning, taking care of and playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her love for her family was endless. For many years she was a member of the Glenwood Square Baptist Church in Portland, and for the last 15 years mom has been a member of Livingstone Church in Standish. Our mother is survived by a long list of people who loved her dearly: our dad and her husband of 59 years Charles; daughter and son-in-law Norma and Joseph Kennedy; her two oldest sons and two daughters-in-law Steven and Dee Freeman, and Charles Jr. and Pam Freeman; and her two youngest sons Mark and Michael. She is also survived by her beloved dog Digger (whom we suspect was her favorite). Our mother Betty is also survived by her 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and dozens of foster children. She also leaves her brother Richard St. Pierre and sister Phyllis Hodgdon. She was also the sister of the late Robert (Bob) St. Pierre. Our mother Betty will be greatly missed by her family and friends, but we are comforted knowing she has found eternal peace and salvation. Her legacy will continue on through all of those she has touched. Private funeral services are will be held at the convenience of the family. A public celebration of her life will be held at 11 am. on February 25, 2017 at Living Stone Community Church, 711 Ossipee Trail West in Standish, ME. Memorial gifts in Betty Freeman's name can be made to the American Diabetes Association at American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 15829, Arlington, VA 22215 which will include a tree planted in her honor (which she would love).
