Bertrand R. Francoeur, 72, of Giles St., passed away unexpectedly Friday. August 24, 2012, at Maine Medical Center with his family by his side. He was born in Portland, the son of Rene and Rose (Vachon) Francoeur. He was raised in Gorham, graduating from Gorham High School in 1958. He later served in the U.S. Army. Bertrand worked for F.S. Plummer in Gorham, Pratt and Whitney in CT, and for 30 years at S.D. Warren Paper Co. before retiring. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and bowling. He was very handy at fixing things which he especially enjoyed doing for other people. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and attending his children and grandchildren's sporting events. He was predeceased by his parents and a brother Maurice Francoeur. He is survived by his wife of 49 years Judy (Gerrish) Francoeur of Westbrook; a son Michael and his wife Catherine Francoeur of Windham, their children Joseph and Shawn; daughters Kristine (Francoeur) Moody of Westbrook her children Scott, Kevin, and Matthew, and Nancy Sargent and husband Steve of Windham, their children Jordan and Ryan; two brothers Robert L. and wife Christine Francoeur of Palm Harbor, FL, and Richard and wife Angie Francoeur of Gorham; a sister Janet Duchaine and husband Phil of Saco; a special sister-in-law Patti-Jean Gerrish, as well as other family and friends. Visiting hours will be from 4 to 7 PM Wednesday at Blais & Hay Funeral Home, 35 Church St., Westbrook. A memorial mass will be celebrated at 10 AM Thursday at St. Anthony's Church.
