Bernadette C. Clancy – 1929-2026

Bernadette “Bernie” Clancy passed away peacefully on October 28,2026. She was 97 years old.

Born Bernadette Christman on July 13, 1929, to Napoleon and Lucienne (Melancon) Christman, she was a lifelong resident of Westbrook, Maine.

Bernie went to school in Westbrook, graduating from Westbrook High School in 1947. She was trained as a bookkeeper and held several positions, working for the City of Westbrook and as a bank teller.

Bernie married Gerald Clancy in 1952; they raised two boys, Paul born in 1953 and Peter born in 1960. Both boys went on to successful careers, Paul in business and Peter as a beloved teacher.

Bernie loaves to play cards, especially cribbage. She loved golf, bowling, movies, popcorn and martinis, not necessarily in that order. More than anything, Bernie loved her family – she is survived by Paul, four grandchildren (Jonathan, Christine, Joel and April) and two great-grandsons; and she was a much-loved mother-in-law to Judi and Patty.
