Obituary

Benny Masters, 84, of Windham, passed away on April 28, 2025, at home after a long, courageous battle with cancer. He was born on April 13, 1941, in Wise, Virginia, the son of John Masters and Kate Fraley. He married the love of his life, Nancy, and they settled in Windham. They celebrated 62 years of marriage this past September. Benny worked for Lucas Tree for 33 years, Swan's Concrete Products for over 15 years, and also owned his own business, Ben's Tree Service. Benny loved working on cars and climbing trees. He had a curious mind and would often take things apart to see how they worked. He loved to dance and taught himself to play the guitar. One of his favorite pastimes was painting. Benny was a jack of all trades and built three houses for himself and Nancy. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Johnny. He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy (Brown) Masters; his daughter, Brenda Tubbs, and her husband, Scott; one grandson, Joshua Tubbs, and his partner, Bethany Manzo; and one great-granddaughter, Nova. He is also survived by his sisters Jeanette Carr of Rangeley, Linda Cohen of South Portland, and Dorothy Belcher of Wise, VA, along with many nieces and nephews. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to Northern Light's wound care, palliative care, and hospice staff for the compassionate care Benny received. Visiting hours will be held at Dolby, Blais & Segee in Windham on Saturday, May 3, from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m., followed by a brief service. Those who wish may make donations in Benny's name to the Patrick Dempsey Center.
