Obituary

NAPLES—Barry Madsen, 73, passed away April 8, 2021 at Maine Medical Center. He was born August 22, 1947, the eldest and only son of Marinus and Priscilla (Hanson) Madsen. Barry grew up in Westbrook, and attended local schools. As a teenager, he began working at SD Warren/Sappi Paper Company in the Maintenance Department for 34 years until his retirement. He worked as an hourly employee for 20 years and was proud of his 14 year Presidency of the Carpenter's Union; followed by 14 years of a Salary Supervisor. He was a Brother of the Maine Masonic, Saccarappa Lodge #0086, since 1972. In August of 1987, he married his best friend, Dori Stiles Ellsworth. Barry would spend the next 36 years teaching, spoiling, supporting, loving, caring and providing for his family. Barry and Dori made their home in Naples where he enjoyed working outside turning over-run thick woods into beautiful landscapes; riding proud on his John Deer Tractor!!!! He was most happy when working outside. Barry enjoyed canoeing, camping, boating, bowling, softball, and riding "Black Beauty" his Gold Wing motorcycle. Barry was a family man who loved his family and pets and will be remembered for his Love, honesty, truthfulness and dry sense of humor. He is survived by his wife, Dori Madsen; his children, Kristine Jordan and her husband Ed, Mark Madsen and his wife Heather; step children Ryan Ellsworth and his wife Laura, and Amanda Ellsworth; grandchildren, Will Malone, Kaite Zeinger, Julia Madsen, Austin Voshail, McKenzie Murch, McKayla Murch, Jackson Ellsworth, and Griffin Ellsworth; 7 great grandchildren; brother in law Lester Ordway and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a son, Matthew Madsen; and his siblings, Karen Stoner, Faith, and Sue Ordway.
