Barbara C. Payne, 84 of Raymond Maine, passed away peacefully on August 6th, 2025, surrounded by her loving family and friends. Barbara was born on June 20th, 1941, in Portland, Maine to her father Durwood Douglass and mother Christina Douglass. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Barbara dedicated over 25 years of her life as a compassionate caregiver at Country Village Assisted Living, in Casco, Maine where she provided comfort, dignity, and kindness to countless residents and their families. Her gentle nature, patience, and unwavering commitment made her not only a trusted caretaker but also a source of warmth and light in the lives of those she cared for. She treated each person with deep respect and genuine love, embodying the true spirit of caregiving in every moment of her work. Barbara also devoted many years volunteering with the Raymond Fire Department Auxiliary, where she took immense pride in preparing meals and coffee for the firefighters. Barbara is survived by her loving husband Robert A. Payne Sr. of 64 years, her son Robert Payne Jr., daughter Deborah Chute, her four grandchildren Richard Chute, Daniel Chute, Jereck Blair, Robert Blair, along with three great-grandchildren Micah Chute, Jordyn Chute, and Jayden Watson. Her burial took place on Monday August 11th, at the Woodlawn Cemetery located at 380 Stroudwater St. Westbrook, Maine at 10 am. A celebration of life was held afterwards at the Windham Veterans Center located at 35 Veterans Memorial Drive Windham, Maine. - You made the world a better place.
