Barbara "Barbie" Alward Berry

Barbie was born November 7, 1942 in Portland, Maine. She was the daughter of Barbara Currier Alward and Irving Rackham Alward and grew up in Cape Elizabeth with her sisters Patricia, Pamela, and Kathryn. She passed away Thursday, December 25, 2025 peacefully at her home.

She graduated from Cape Elizabeth High School and then University of Connecticut with a degree in Physical Therapy. She worked for many years as a Physical Therapist and especially enjoyed working in nursing homes with the elderly.

Outside of her career she enjoyed spending time with her husband Howard. They did some traveling and loved to dance. Barbie was a member of a group of belly dancers for a number of years. She was an artist, avid reader and collector of antiques and other treasures.

Barbie is survived by her sisters Patricia DuBois Fowler and husband Chuck, Pamela Alward Burbank; stepdaughter Tammie Fulda, granddaughters Sabrina Owens and Shelby Collett; brother-in-law Bruce Turner; special family friends Jeff Barnhart and Roxanne Silver; nephews Jeffrey DuBois, Derek DuBois, Colin Burbank, Cameron Burbank; as well as grandnieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Irving Rackham Alward and Barbara Currier Alward, husband Howard Berry, sister Kathryn Alward Turner, and daughter Debra Darcy Bohnson. 

There will be a family service in the spring.
