Bridgton- Avis Inez Smith- 89, died August 9, 2016 at her daughter's home. She was born in Standish on the family farm on December 30, 1926, the daughter of Leon H. and Doris (Wescott) Tibbetts. Avis raised her four children in Windham. She enjoyed hunting and fishing. She loved nature, feeding the birds, gardening and tending her house plants. Avis is survived by her sons; Richard Tibbetts, Robert Smith Sr. and wife Sarah, David Smith and wife Martha, daughter Deborah Bennett and husband Rick, brother Leon Tibbetts, sisters; Florence Millett, Eleanor Darling, Janice Alferio, Abbie Martin and Linda Shapleigh; six grandchildren; several great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and long time friend, George Berry. In addition to her parents, Avis is predeceased by a grandson, Robbie Smith; brother, Phillip Tibbetts and sister Elaine Macaro. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday, August 13, at the Dolby Funeral Chapel, 434 River Rd., Windham, with a reception immediately following.
